Cookies
This site sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts and carries no advertising. With your permission it counts which pages and data sheets are read. If you refuse, nothing about your visit is recorded and everything else works exactly the same.
Your choice, and how to change it
The notice on your first visit asks one question and takes one click either way. Whichever you choose is remembered, so you are not asked again on the next page — and you can change it here at any time.
What is kept on your device
Two entries in local storage, and no cookies at all. Neither is sent to a third party, and clearing site data in your browser removes both.
actreg.cookie-notice holds your answer and the date you gave it. It is written whether you accept or refuse — a refusal has to be remembered, or the notice would reappear on every page until you gave in, which is not a free choice.
actreg.visitor is a random identifier, and it is created only if you accept. It is a plain random number: it is not derived from your device, your address or anything about you, so it cannot identify you anywhere other than here. It exists so that one person reading six data sheets is not counted as six people, and so that there is something to delete if you later change your mind.
What is recorded, if you accept
For each page you open, on our own servers: the path of the page, your browser and operating system, whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop, the width of your window, the main language your browser asks for, the website you arrived from, and your IP address with the final part removed.
That last point is the one worth being precise about. An IPv4 address is stored as its first three parts with the last set to zero, and an IPv6 address as its first three groups — a range of up to two hundred and fifty-four addresses in the first case, and an entire provider allocation in the second. It is enough to tell which country is reading about scotch yoke actuators. It is not enough to identify a person, and the complete address is never written down.
Not recorded: your name, your email address, your precise location, anything you type, the query string of any page, or any attempt to recognise you across other websites. There is no advertising network and no profiling here, and nothing is sold or shared.
Why, and on what legal basis
The purpose is narrow: knowing which products and data sheets engineers actually open tells us which ones deserve better drawings, more detail and clearer torque data. That is the whole of it.
The legal basis is your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and Article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002. Consent is why nothing is collected before you answer, why refusing is one click and not buried, and why withdrawing is as easy as giving it was. The one exception is the entry recording your answer itself, which is strictly necessary to honour the answer you gave.
How long it is kept
A measurement is deleted 14 months after it was recorded, by a job that runs every night. There is no archive behind it and no backup kept for longer.
If you withdraw your consent, everything recorded against your identifier is deleted immediately rather than waiting out that period. Use the button at the top of this page; it confirms once the deletion has gone through, and tells you if it has not.
Where it goes
Your browser sends it to this website, which adds the truncated address and passes one record to ACTREG’s own content system. Both run on our own infrastructure inside the EU. No analytics provider is involved, which is also why your browser’s network panel shows requests to this domain and nothing else.
How to check that for yourself
Open your browser’s developer tools and look at the storage panel for this domain. The cookie list should be empty. Local storage should hold the answer key named above, and the random identifier only if you accepted — if you refused and you can see a second key, something is wrong and we would like to hear about it.
In the network panel, accepting produces one small request to /api/visits per page you open, and refusing produces none at all. Everything else, typefaces included, is served from this domain.
What happens regardless
Two things do not depend on your answer, because they are not measurement. Ordinary web server logs note that a page was requested, as every web server does. And when the quotation form is submitted, the sending address is counted briefly so the form cannot be used to flood the sales inbox — a count against an address, not a profile of a person.
Both are covered in the privacy notice, along with how to ask for a copy of what is held about you or have it erased.
Links away from this site
Certificates and data sheets open as PDF files, and LinkedIn and YouTube are linked as plain links. Nothing from those services is embedded in these pages, so none of them can set a cookie or see your visit unless you choose to follow the link. Once you do, that service’s own policy applies and not this one.
What is planned
A chat assistant is intended for this site. It is not present today and nothing of it loads. When it arrives it will be named on this page with what it stores, and it will be added as a second, separate question — which also means your current answer will be put to you again, because permission for one thing is not permission for another.
